 - Pymatuning Trails Vision    Plan Adopted

Communities across the United States are beginning to recognize the benefits that non-motorized trails bring to their areas, including providing recreational opportunities, transportation alternatives, environmental buffer zones, and serving as tourism draws.

The goal of Envision Linesville's Trails Committee is to establish Linesville as a regional non-motorized trail hub.  Our vision for the Linesville area's future trail system has been outlined in the Pymatuning Trails Vision Plan.  Implementation of the Vision Plan, including planning and development of individual trail corridors, is now underway.

Latest Developments:

  • Seabee Trail
This project is currently in the design, engineering, and permitting phases. Because construction will be paid for using federal transportation funds, the project must meet all state and federal design guidelines, which are very stringent. The project will have a compacted crushed limestone surface and will provide beautiful vistas of the lake and surrounding woodlands. The project is anticipated to go to bid in late 2008.
  • Spillway Trail Upgrade
Envision Linesville is currently working with officials from Pymatuning State Park to undertake upgrades to the existing Spillway Trail. These upgrades will include surface improvements, trailhead upgrades, and the installation of a physical separation to keep motorized vehicles off the trail. Upgrades will be made during the summer of 2008.
  • Spillway-to-Townline Road Trail Study
Envision Linesville is currently pursuing grant funding to do an engineering and right-of-way study of the former rail corridor extending from the existing Spillway Trail (across from the fish hatchery), behind Linesville High School, and out to Townline Road. The local match for this project is in place and a grant application has been submitted through DCNR's Community Conservation Partnership Program. Announcement of these grants is anticipated in late 2008.
